"Reconstructing Past Glaciation of Central Asia"

About the Project

Project Time & Type:
Summer 2013 - DURI
Research area(s):
Geology
Project Description:
Reconstructing Past Glaciation of Central Asia involves collecting geological samples from areas that had bigger glaciers in the past. By analyzing the rocks that were moved by the ice we can determine the timing of the past glaciation. This involves extensive lab work in PRIME lab in the physics department.
Expected Student Contributions:
Laboratory work on rock samples. This involves both physical and chemical processing of samples based on very strict protocols.
