About the Project

Project Time & Type:
Spring 2013 - DURI
Research area(s):
Nursing
Project Description:
The purpose of this project is to implement and test an updated approach to clinical education that is augmented with systems engineering. What we learn will provide insight into how we might best incorporate systems engineering concepts into the nursing curriculum and how these concepts might enhance clinical judgment and critical thinking skills in nurses. Our research approach will be to collect data throughout the semester, including questionnaires, nursing care plans, journaling, simulation, and evidence-based projects.
Expected Student Contributions:
The interns will have an opportunity to learn the research process as they help us carryout the data collection activities, conduct analyses, and disseminate the results. In other words, interns working with us will function as active members of our research team.
