Project Description:
Servicescapes mean physical environments of service facilities such as healthcare facilities. This study is to explore the impact of healthcare consumers' perceptions of servicescapes on their attitudes and satisfaction with the healthcare provider. The environmental dimensions of the servicescape in this study will be 1)ambient conditions such as temperature, noise, and odor, 2) interior furnishings and equipments, and 3) wayfinding including signs, symbols, and space layouts. The survey will be conducted to collect data from three hospitals using a questionnaire.
Expected Student Contributions:
The intern will do the library study about the healthcare facility design and healthcare facility as servicescape. The intern will help the development of the questionnaire tool to collect data from users of local hospitals. The intern will help the IRB application process. Prior to the data collection, the intern will receive the IRB training and get certified. The intern will do the field survey in three local hospitals in the great Lafayette area and collect the data using a questionnaire. The intern will interview 30 hospital facility users from each hospital. The intern will also help the coding of the data and save the data in a file to get it ready for the data analysis.
