Project Description:
An ongoing development of professional competencies and commitment to lifelong learning is needed for success, particularly in new and constantly changing disciplines such as User Experience (UX) design. In this project, you will be collecting and analyzing data from social media communities that UX professionals have formed. You will work with other researchers to understand what kinds of information are being shared, and the implications of these sharing practices for successful practice.
Expected Student Contributions:
The intern will work with the research team to identify potential data sources, collect and compile data for analysis, and conduct qualitative coding of datasets, potentially including statistical analysis or visualization of data to form more precise research questions. This work may result in contributions to conference and journal publications if the intern is interested. Strong data collection and analysis skills are helpful, but a self-driven student with related technical competencies that is open to learning social science techniques is also welcomed.

Desired Qualifications:
Human subjects training ideal; interest in qualitative research and familiarity with social media APIs and web scripting/programming preferred. Basic knowledge of database management and data architecture preferred. Basic understanding of qualitative data collection techniques such as interview and survey preferred, or a willingness to learn.
