Project Description:
Innovative solutions in engineering and design contexts require new ways of thinking. In this project, you will be analyzing data from a series of design workshops, working with a larger team to understand how the way a problem is framed or understood by a designer can affect the kinds of concepts they generate. Data analyzed will include sketches and completed worksheets.
Expected Student Contributions:
The intern will work with the supervising professor and his research team. They will primarily work on qualitative coding of existing data, resulting in potential conference and journal publications if the intern is interested. Strong writing and literature search skills are helpful, but the supervising professor is looking forward to teaching a motivated intern the necessary research skills.

Desired Qualifications:
Human subjects training ideal; interest in qualitative research and/or familiarity with sketching preferred, although no existing skills are required.
