Project Description:
An innovative solar heating system with a heat pump back up has been built and commissioned in the Applied Energy Laboratory. Its Energy Factor is being evaluated to determine how efficient the new system is for heating.
Expected Student Contributions:
An energy model of the solar heating system with a heat pump backup will be developed. A limited amount of real data is needed to calibrate this model and then it can be used to predict system performance over a calendar year using TMY weather data.
