Discovery Park Undergraduate Research Internship Program

"Biowall CADR Analysis"

About the Project

Project Time & Type:
Spring 2016 - DURI
Research area(s):
Energy & Buildings
Project Description:
The Biowall is a plant-based filter for improving IAQ in buildings. The device is being tested in a laboratory now and will be moved to a residence soon for further testing and commercialization.
Expected Student Contributions:
The clean air delivery rate (CADR) is quantified by measuring the decay of small amounts of toluene, a common VOC, as it passes through the biowall. Additional testing is needed to evaluate this process over time. Do the plants continue to metabolize the VOC after numerous exposures?
