Discovery Park Undergraduate Research Internship Program

"Milton among Spaniards"

About the Project

Project Time & Type:
Fall 2015 - DURI
Research area(s):
Literature, Religious Studies
Project Description:
The intern will confirm the data that the PI has already collected from the Spanish Inquisition's lists of heretical authors and texts and that the PI needs for her book manuscript, _Milton among Spaniards_, due in October 2015. Many of the authors and texts are both literary and scientific/engineering since many of the authors and texts emerged during the very destabilizing Scientific Revolution of the 17th and 18th centuries (for example, Galileo is on the lists). In November, the intern will conduct library data-collection research for the PI's next book-project _Milton in Hispanoamerica_.
Expected Student Contributions:
The intern will review the electronic copies of the Spanish Inquisition's lists of heretical authors and texts that the professor provides the intern, in order to confirm and record the names and page numbers for entries that meet specific categories. The intern will meet weekly with professor to keep on target and because the professor will be integrating the data into her book.
